Grottammare

The Pearl of the Adriatic

A Pearl That Is Pleasantly Discovered

The Pearl of the Adriatic, a joy of colors and scents, is the second locality of the Riviera delle Palme, celebrated for over three centuries for the beauty of its landscape and the rich historical and cultural memories it jealously guards like a treasure chest.

Grottammare:
a treasure chest to explore

Cycling along the pedestrian-cycle path, one travels the south promenade, embellished with decorated fountains and original roundabouts that extend onto the beach. The path continues north on Viale Marino, where palms and porphyry and Carrara marble paving provide an ideal frame for the Art Nouveau villas built at the beginning of the twentieth century. Grottammare is dominated by the old hilltop village, a fascinating medieval borough clinging to the hillside, which contains precious monuments, as well as the historic “Teatro dell’Arancio” and the “Pericle Fazzini” museum. Piazza Peretti, the secret heart of the citadel, opens onto a splendid loggia from which one can enjoy a superb panorama of the sea and the coast.
